Asia Cup 2023: Pakistan defeated Nepal by 238 runs in the first match

 


Pakistan defeated Nepal by 238 runs in the opening match of the Asia Cup 2023 .

First match of the Asia Cup was played in Multan, where Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat against Nepal.

Due to good innings of captain Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed, Pakistan gave a huge target of 343 runs to Nepal, in response, Nepal was dismissed for 104 runs in the 24th over.

Pakistan's innings:

Earlier, when Pakistan started their innings, the openers returned to the pavilion soon, Fakhar Zaman returned to the pavilion after scoring 14 runs, while Imam-ul-Haq was run out after scoring 5 runs, on this occasion Rizwan and Babar Azam batted responsibly and reached the score of 111 runs.

Rizwan was dismissed for 44 runs, then Agha Salman, who came after him, returned to the pavilion after scoring 5 runs.

Babar Azam was dismissed in the last over after scoring 151 runs, while Iftikhar Ahmed remained unbeaten on 109 off 71 balls.

The national team scored 342 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs.

For Nepal, Sompal Kami took two wickets while Karan and Sandeep Lamicha took one wicket each.

Nepal's innings:

Chasing a target of 343 runs, Nepal's batting line-up was shattered like leaves.

Soumpal Kami (104) and Arif Sheikh (28) were the top scorers for Nepal, apart from them, no Nepali batsman could stay on the wicket for long.

For Pakistan, Shadab Khan took four wickets, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf took two wickets each, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Nawaz took one wicket each.
