Prominent BBC crocodile expert Adam Britton pleads guilty of sexually abusing, raping and killing dozens of dogs at his shelter in Australia.

Adam Britton, who grew up in West Yorkshire before moving to Australia admits he has raped and tortured more then 42 dogs and puppies.

His crimes were not limited to animals under him but also his pets Swiss shepherd, Ursa and Bolt, for almost a decade. He eventually expanded to Gumtree Australia to source more dogs to torture and kill at his sprawling rural estate at McMinns Lagoon on the northern tip of Australia.

He used to film his torturing to animals in which he called his "torture room" - a shipping container installed with recording equipment. He posted these footages online for others to witness his brutally sick crimes.

Britton, who worked for the BBC and National Geographic, stood calmly as he pleaded guilty to 47 counts of animal cruelty at the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory yesterday.

He has been in custody since his guilty plea and will face sentencing submissions on December 13.
