Republicans ousted US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in historic vote

Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives removed House Speaker Kevin McCarthy in a historic vote of no confidence.

In the House of Representatives, hard-liner Republicans were very angry with McCarthy for cooperating with the Democrats and a resolution was introduced against him.

The House of Representatives dismissed the Speaker by 210 votes to 216 on a resolution moved against McCarthy by hard-liner Republicans in the House of Representatives.

"I think I can continue my fight, but the method may be different," said ousted U.S. Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

According to foreign media, there will be no speaker in the US House of Representatives for the next one week, The Republicans have called a meeting on October 10 to appoint a new speaker and voting for the new speaker is expected on October 11.

Kevin McCarthy was elected as speaker of the US House of Representatives on January 8, 2023. For the first time in the 234-year history of the United States, the House has voted against the Speaker. The Speaker was sacked at a time when elections are just a year away in the U.S.
