In the sixth match of the Asia Cup 2023 played at Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Sri Lanka defeated Afghanistan by two runs and qualified for the Super Four stage.
Sri Lankan captain won the toss and decided to bat, Sri Lanka scored 50 runs for 8 wickets in 291 overs, Kusal Mendis scored 92 runs.
Afghanistan scored 292 runs in chase of Sri Lanka's target of 289 runs.
With this win, Sri Lanka reached the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup with Bangladesh with four points, topping Group B.

Earlier, both teams had played one match each, in which Sri Lanka won and in their first match and Afghanistan lost to Bangladesh.
Afghanistan had to win with a better run rate to reach the Super Four stage, Sri Lanka's target was to reach Afghanistan in 37.1 overs.
However, Afghanistan were bowled out for 37 in 4.289 overs and Sri Lanka qualified for the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup.
